HTC One smartwatch facing more delays

The HTC smartwatch rumours continue to rumble and the latest murmurs had pointed towards an Android Wear device, dubbed the HTC One Watch, being announced at the start of June.

That's was the word from Evan Blass, whose predictions in the past have been pretty impressive in the past. However, Blass is now saying HTC's smartwatch is facing delays and will be launched in the fall.

That's a big kick in the teeth for HTC fans, who have been waiting patiently for a smartwatch to land from the Taiwanese phone giant for almost two years now.

Despite reports back in September 2014 that HTC had canned its smartwatch project, various company spokespeople have been vocal on the subject and some juicy details have emerged.

In October 2014, HTC Americas head Jason Mackenzie said that the company was holding back with regards to wearables until it got things right on the design front.

The HTC boss confirmed it had planned a launch event for its wearable device before Christmas last year, before the decision was taken to put things on hold. "We had originally planned to have a wearable launch in this time frame," he said. "It ended up just not being ready."

The, in early 2015 it was reported that a device, codenamed PETRA, could be in the works - but that may well have ended up being the cancelled HTC Grip (which has since been reborn, sort of, as the Under Armour Band).

With regards to the purported HTC One watch, the rumour mill is cooking up murmurs of an all-round display, as per the Huawei Watch, with a 360 x 360 resolution.

That's all we know (or think we know) at this point. However, this isn't the first time we've heard talk of a HTC smartwatch.

We only hope that, if HTC does come to the Android Wear table, it turns up with a cutting-edge device fit for 2016 rather than a rehashed 2014 device.
